AN OPEN LETTER TO THE SUDAN EMBASSY RELATED TO THE DEATH SENTENCE OF MERIAM YEHYA IBRAHIM

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim Ishag pictured on her wedding day

I am deeply concerned by the news that Meriam Yehya Ibrahim has been sentenced to hang to death for refusing to recant her Christian testimony.   I keep checking different news services hoping this is just a cruel internet hoax.   Yet, the news is very consistent that the reports are accurate.

This is fundamentally an unjust ruling which is unable to be supported by both religious and secular principles.

The right to choose one's religious beliefs is a fundamental one when we believe in a sovereign and  loving God.  Such a God does not need humans to force religious compliance upon other humans.   Since God is sovereign His will is completed no matter what choices humans make.   Also, since He is loving His greatest pleasure is when we humans love Him in return.

With all due respect please investigate this unjust ruling and overturn it.

If this ruling is not overturned I will write my USA Senators, Representatives, and President to beseech them to use all possible means to intervene.

The above message is one I sent to the Sudan Embassy in Washington D.C.   Please join me in sending similar messages of protest to the Sudan Embassy at http://www.sudanembassy.org/index.php?option=com_breezingforms&Itemid=13

  1. Thank you for taking action Pastor Dave and challenging us to do likewise. This story has disturbed me since I read it.
